About Kebede:

Kebede is our agricultural missionary in Ethiopia. Kebede recently told us that they had received
timely rains which have led to good crop growth. This is an answer to many prayers!

Kebede works out of Tabor and Awasa congregations in Awasa, a town south of the capital in
Addis Ababba. The Awasa congregation began to develop a mission in the town of Arsi Negele,
which is about 30 kilometers north of Awasa. Arsi Negele is traditionally a Moslem area, but the
local leaders allowed the Awasa congregation to work in their area because of the help they
provide with the agricultural needs of the people. When Pastor and Anne Osslund visited the area
four years ago the mission outreach covered an area about 10 to 20 kilometers from Arsi Negele.
That is about the size of Story County. Kebede just told us that the outreach is now 90-100
kilometers from the town. That’s about the size of Story, Polk, Marshall, Boone, Hamilton,
Webster, Greene, Dallas, Hardin, and Jasper counties, plus parts of Guthrie, Warren, Franklin,
Wright, Marion, Grundy, and Madison counties! And remember that traveling 90 kilometers in
Ethiopia is not a matter of driving an hour down a paved highway, but walking over mountainous
country! The agricultural ministry helps them to gain the trust of the people and local government
so that the Gospel can be freely proclaimed to the people by the local missionaries who are
trained to start preaching stations throughout the region.
